Here are some notes I found related to the Chile earthquake to share ~

From the Live Science web site I read the 8.8 Chilean earthquake, and the tsunami it spawned, originated on a hot spot known as a subduction zone ... where one plate of Earth's crust dives under another ~ It's part of the very active "Ring of Fire" .. a zone of major crustal plate clashes that surround the Pacific Ocean ~

This particular subduction zone has produced very damaging earthquakes throughout its history ~ The world's largest quake ever recorded, magnitude 9.5, occurred in Chile along the same fault zone in 1960. The 1960 earthquake unleashed a deadly tsunami that crossed the Pacific taking lives in Hawaii, Japan, and the Philippines" .. so I can see why such great tsunami precautions were taken in last week's earthquake ~

I close my eyes and lower my head in humble silence...
In my mind's eye, I witness all the suffering and hear the cries...
My inner voice speaks a prayer of healing...a prayer for comfort...

I envision a warm gentle light, healing the wounds...wiping the tears away...
a glow of radiance and strength...stretching across the land....and into the
hearts of the people...May the love & light of the Divine guide their way through...

I spent time in meditation over your prayer and gave deep thought over your wish of peace so actively sought within the fabric of mankind for generations, yet where there would be good so there was created evil, so that mankind might learn. So, as a result of mankind’s actions, the earth seems at conflict too.

In wisdom, perhaps it is better to see the Mother Earth weeping for the children who do not hear her as she begs them to stop their actions and tries desperately to warn them. She accepts the pain they inflict upon her while they seek only pleasure without giving back, or caring for her, time again. So many of mankind over the centuries have simply taken advantage of the offerings the earth has to give. We have seen destruction of rainforests, natural resources taken from the earth and scars left behind, and bombs and weapons leaving terrible imbalance to lands to name a few. The mother earth has gone unvalued for many generations and a large portion of mankind has lived in a terrible arrogance. What Mother would not weep? If mankind will not stop, if they will not heal the Earth, than maybe she is being forced to heal herself. I think sometimes we must trust in the Earth and the gifts of creation to know that all will come to be as it must. We can do what our inner voice tells us we must to aid the Earth in her endeavors, to heal and to promote peace, love and beauty so that the earth and mankind will indeed hurt no more, beyond that we must trust and love.

I have a perspective of earthquakes, have been among them, and they are indeed very frightening. I learned not to see the lives lost but the miracle of the lives saved, I did not anger at Mother Earth for the lives taken, but wept in thanks for her miracle of the ones she cradled to her and saved in the rubble for days. Who knows what those people, those spirits would accomplish in their lifetime. I was humble and accepted, though I will be honest, it was not something I came to right away. Many years before, I would rage at the earth and wonder what kind of Mother would cause such destruction that would take the lives of so many, including the lives of children.

Just my thoughts, I share in your beautiful prayer and do extend my hopes that the Earth settles and if possible the weather settles before the on coming storm and the earthquakes can stop and the Earth herself can rest.
