1. Fascinating lecture...

What a fascinating lecture on endangered cultures! I admire the fact that Wade Davis speaks from actual experiences rather than strictly thru course of study from textbooks only. I also like the fact that it is thru his actual travels around the world studying the ways of the many indigenous peoples that he shares this wealth of information with all.

Some years ago I had the pleasure of living in South-east Asia for 3 years.
What I learned from the experience of living and working amongst the beautiful people of Okinawa is immeasurable. I had the opportunity to learn from them, and in turn, they were extremely curious about "Texas" life so I shared some of my hispanic and Texas culture with them.

Thru this rewarding and enriching experience, I can truly appreciate the last statement that Wade Davis made in his lecture; "All of the wisdoms of all peoples can contribute to our collective well-being."

2. A very powerful and important

A very powerful and important message that should be presented to youth in school studies. A magnificent coverage of faiths, beliefs and heritages.

3. Wade Davis - A Truly Inspiring Presence

Recently, my husband and I made a date to see Wade Davis' lecture live at the Royal Ontario Museum. He was so inspiring! My husband, who has his degree in Environmental Studies, has long been an admirer and has read almost all of Davis' books. The television series, "Light at the Edge of the World" is available in its entirety on you tube in small snippets. It is a must see. The cinematography is stunning and you feel as if you are traveling along with Davis as he visits with these vanishing cultures that we can learn so much from. They just may be our saviours in the end.

4. Brilliant and profound ~

Wade's insight into the profound meaning of endangered cultures brings a flood of emotions throughout my being, Divine Earth ~

Respecting and cherishing these diverse cultures and people touches my heart at the deepest levels ~ I have too many stories inside of me since childhood to express in words how I feel but for now ...just an example ~ From early childhood I remember a Native American friend who lived on a nearby reservation shared with me a painful story ~ She said the church was controlling her school and the Indian children were not allowed to speak their native language at school or face punishment ~

In so many ways our society's social values discourage the rich diversity of cultures ~ These differences are treasures of the human spirit ~ With grateful heart .. thank you Johannes for bringing light and understanding where much darkness exists in our world ~ Blessings ~ Coralina ~
